President Cathy Hi Ladies Wow -- I hope you enjoyed the meeting yesterday as much as I did! It was a very special day with the Children's Rehab Foundation thanking us for our support. Following our regular meeting, we had greetings and presentations from Chris, Sandy Loewen, Dan and Collette. They talked about strengthening and balancing aids for the patients (sand bells and spot markers for hopscotch), prosthetic devices, the Family Resource Library and that we had raised over $197000 in support of them over the past 17 years. We are honored to be of service to them. There was much more however. We also got to meet and hear from a very special young lady, Keera Lyall who is this year's Youth Ambassador. Keera is a grade 12 student at Westwood Collegiate and a very delightful young lady with the most beautiful smile! You can expect to see Keera at Cruisin down the Crescent in June. And more still! Another amazing story of strength and inspiration from Kristin Millar. Kristin, is a young lady who enjoyed good health through most of her childhood and teenage years. Unexpectedly, in her late teens, she discovered she had a very serious heart condition which could result in sudden death. Her journey to restored health covers several years and brushes with death, including 7 strokes and after receiving a new heart, Kristin considers herself normal and well again. As a heart recipient, she is most greatful to all who supported her through this journey including family, friends, her medical team and of course the person who gave her the ultimate gift of life -- a new heart! Finally, after all of the formalities, The Childrens Rehab Foundation treated us to tea and delicious cupcakes! Each lady was handed a flower on the way out!
More photos on our photo page..... Blessings to all! President Cathy Hi Ladies Well it has been a busy several days but most enjoyable. We had our Annual Dinner last Thursday, April 9th. Very well attended where all enjoyed a chicken dinner. We welcomed First Lady of Khartum, Melody Terin who very graciously addressed the audience. We were also entertained by a Female Barbershop Quartet -- The Honeycombs! Most enjoyable. One of the quartet even mentioned her family's long Masonic affiliation. Although we had intended to do the Presentation of Pins (25 year to Laureen Christensen and Kathleen Dales; 50 year to Betty Huppe), since these ladies were unable to be in attendance, I will make arrangements to get these pins to these ladies at a later date. We were delighted however to introduce and welcome many of our Past Presidents! Many thanks to the Dinner Committee, the Caterers and The Honeycombs as well as all the ladies who attended! President Cathy P.S. To see more photos from the dinner, visit our Photo page. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the dinner tonight!
President Cathy Hi Ladies
I’m sure you are as excited as I am that the raffle tickets are ready!! Keep in mind, with all of us selling together, we made over $8500 for the kids last year. I hope we can do the same this year. I will have the tickets and the sign-up calendar available at the dinner tonight and again at our meeting on Monday. You can either email me or come and see me at either the dinner or meeting. Looking forward to seeing you there. Barb Wells |
