Cruisin To Change Lives
Sunday June 11/23 Children’s Rehab Foundation held their fundraising event Cruisin’ To Change Lives ( previously called Cruising Down the Crescent). This was first time event held since Covid and first time at Canadian Mennonite University. The event was a resounding success and raised $ 161,000 (and counting). KLA volunteered to help and was assigned to the ice cream cart handing out dilly bars and ice cream sandwiches donated by Sargent Sundae to participants. KLA is proud to have contributed to the success of the event with our volunteer effort. We look forward to participating again in 2024.

Patients back to hospital
February 6, 2023 - Due to health issues in the country there have been few patients going to the Canadian Shrine hospital in Montreal or any of the other hospitals.
We have a 14 year old girl going next week and 3 younger youth shortly thereafter. The Auxiliary give a special bag to each new patient to take on their journey. These bags usually contain items suitable to the age and gender of each patient.
Our President Barb Gingsberg created this delightful bag for the young lady headed to the hospital very soon. Thank you to the talented ladies in our Auxiliary.

New Patient Backpack
As you may know, Eve-Anne's daughter Carolyn has been painting some of our tote bags. I (Pat Allenby) phoned her about our newest patient a 14 yr. old young fellow who is going next week-- wondering if at that age he would appreciate a denim decorated bag?? Carolyn suggested she would like to donate-- thru Enns Brothers a gorgeous BACKPACK!!
Just picked it up and here is a photo of what's going in it-- he apparently loves Soccer!!
Big Thank you to Pat, Carolyn and Enns Brothers.

It was a wonderful afternoon for the patients and the families.
So happy to be able to participate in this event.

Interview with Eleanor Coopsamy, CTV Winnipeg, May 15th, 2012
Hi all, here is the link to the interview which was aired on CTV Winnipeg, Tuesday, May 15th, 2012.

While I am happy that this gets our name out there, I am disappointed in the fact that they make it sound like we do all of our fundraising for the ReHab only. I made it very clear in my interview (which was edited out) that we are an Auxiliary to the Khartum Shriners and that we support their Transportation Fund as well.
Respectfully,
Darlene Borowski
President

Bridge & Card Party, April 12th, 2012
The Bridge & Card Party - with lunch, was held on Thursday, April 12th, 2012 at Shrine House. This event was a huge success with everyone enjoying the lunch, the card games and the fellowship.
Irish Night - March 17th, 2012
The Auxiliary held its first Irish Night on March 17th, 2012 at the Shrine House. Two groups performed to a sold out audience. The opening act was the Colleen Morrison Trio. The audience enjoyed singing along to favorite Irish songs. Following a short intermission, the next act took the stage. Sara Clefstand delighted and charmed the audience with her beautiful voice and stage presence. Sara was accompanied on piano by Ian Campbell. Sara and Ian joined in a duet of "Who Put the Overalls in Mrs. Murphy's Chowder?". Sara and Ian are both students at the U or M School of Music. They were the hit of the evening.
A light lunch was served after the concert. A 50/50 draw and silent auction were also featured. The event was so popular that we will be planning it as a regular feature.
