It was 2018
The month of December
At least, I think
That is what I remember.
When THIS Gal said to me
Go bowling, have fun
Sure, I thought
When the moon hits the sun.
But she talked and joked
And she said with glee
That I’d meet new girls
It would be good for me.
So I said okay
I’d wait and see
But I’m going on vacation,
That’s the best it can be.
When I got home
A message relayed
Don’t forget Wednesday
Yes, that is the day.
For bowling she said
I think it’s at nine
Okay, okay
I guess it’ll be fine
I got up on Wednesday
Nervous as could be
Oh well I though
We’ll just wait and see.
I got downstairs
To the bowling alley
Meanwhile my stomach
Just felt like a bowl of jelly.
I got to the door
It was dark as could be
I was sure that it was
A sign for me.
I decided to wait
Ten minutes no more
Then came a man and
Opened the door.
You’re early, he said
We don’t start til ten
Boy oh boy
I sure felt dumb then.
I said I was here
But only to spare
He said come on in
What size do you wear?
I waited until
In come Sharon
With a smile on her face
I knew she was caring.
I laughed and hollered
And had so much fun
Perhaps a new career
Had now just begun.
The best part they said
Was going for lunch
I suddenly became part
Of the Bowling Bunch.
As you get older
It’s tough to make pals
But look around you ladies …..
These are the gals I think you turn to,
Through thick and through thin
And boy for me its is just a
BIG WIN.
And to bowling bunch.
I do have a hunch
That after today
We’ll do more that just lunch.
As for this GAL
Well, I call her Lou
She’s known as Ruth
To most of you.
She’s the greatest supporter
Of the Khartum Shrine
But best of all
She’s a friend of mine.
